In Memory

David Harris

David's sister, Ruthie, sent this bio for inclusion on the website. He was part of our class for only a year and a half, but I think we all remember him fondly. - E. F.

David received his undergraduate degree from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Ok. He then attended Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Tulsa, Ok and received his doctorate. He took his internship and residence in Neurology in Albuquerque, NM. After finishing his residency he practiced medicine in Oklahoma, Florida, and Maryland. He had 3 children. Amanda…..1970, Justin……1976, and Marisa…..1987.

While in college David was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. But this did not stop him from achieving his goal of becoming a doctor and helping others. In 1991 the disease was getting the best of him and he was forced to go on disability. He moved back to Lubbock in the summer of 1992 to be near family. He was killed in a car wreck on 12/22/92. What a blessing that we were able to share in his last few months. Shortly after he died….In February of 1993 our other brother, Paul, was killed in a car accident. Now it is only Becky and I. David was a brilliant doctor and a loving brother. Not a day goes by that Becky and I don’t miss him. We stay in touch with his children and grandchildren and remember him with smiles and laughter. I hope you remember him the same way. He was a good man….taken before his time. Have a great reunion…..I’ll be thinking about you. ….Ruthie Singer
